Johnson County Utility Assistance
The Utility Assistance Program is available to assist low income households
with the cost of utility bills. Toni Hull, Utility Asst. Coordinator, is
available for appointments at RPCC each Tuesday. Appointment can be scheduled by
calling (913) 715-6654.
Kansas Legal Services
Legal services for seniors are provided at the Center on the second Thursday
morning of each month. Appointments are required and can be made by calling
236-4343. Legal services can help answer questions regarding living wills,
social security, powers of attorney.
AARP Tax Assistance
Volunteer staff provides free personal tax assistance preparation to older
persons. The services are available on Monday and Tuesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. through April 12th. No appointment necessary.
Emergency Food Pantry
The community center operates an emergency food pantry for families in need,
who live in northeast Johnson County. Information and appointments may be made
by calling 826-3130. The Pantry is sponsored by the Northeast Johnson County
Coalition of Churches. Call the center if you’d like to help.
Blood Pressure Clinic
Johnson County Health Department conducts a blood pressure clinic on the
first Tuesday of each month, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. in the Neighbors’ Place.
Aging Information Specialists
Johnson County Area Agency on Aging provides Information Specialists at the
center on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday morning of each month.
Information and appointments can be made by calling 894-8811. The Information
Specialist can help you locate resources such as in-home services,
home-delivered meals, housing and more.
The Neighbors’ Place
The Neighbors’ Place is where seniors in northeast Johnson County gather for
lunch, friendship and a variety of activities. A delicious lunch is served
weekdays, with a choice of entree. Reservations are required by noon the day
before, by calling 722-0350.
Cards, flexercise, and other senior services and activities are available
before and after lunch. Information regarding home-delivered meals and volunteer
opportunities is also available.
Roeland Park Fitness Room
Open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday, 8
a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Equipment includes treadmills, air
dyne and recumbent bikes, and strength equipment. Single quarterly memberships
begin at $24.00 and include a free orientation with a qualified exercise
instructor.
EasyRide Transportation Service
In cooperation with the area cities, Johnson County provides curb to curb
transportation services to people 50 years old and over each Tuesday and
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EasyRide travels within the city limits
of the following cities: Roeland Park, Mission, Merriam, Westwood, and Fairway
(also includes Shawnee Mission and KU Medical Centers). No charge, donations
accepted. Reservations made by call (913) 397-7300.
Other Services
Free notary and voter registration services. Private room rentals for groups
up to 125 are available. Call 722-0039.
Johnson County Park & Recreation District provides a wide variety of classes,
programs and services for all ages. A full listing of county-wide offerings is
in the JCPRD quarterly "Activities" catalog available at the center. Housed

Roeland Park Child Development Center
The center offers a nationally accredited child development program.
Full-time, part-time and Mom’s Day out opportunities are available for children
ages 3 to 6 year olds. The Center operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.
to 6:00 p.m. Call 722-1198 for more information.
50 Plus Program
The 50 Plus Program offers a wide selection of classes, programs and
services for adults 50 and over. Call 236-4343.
