How often may I hold a sale?
You may hold two sales per one-year period at your home.
A garage sale permit must be obtained prior to the sale and upon forms
furnished by the city. The applicant shall answer fully all
questions contained in the application and remit $5.00 with each
application. (5-403)
Do I have to do anything different if I am an Estate
Sale Company?
You must obtain an
occupation
license with the City. Application forms are available online.
Is there a limit for
length of time for a sale?
A sale may last up to four days each time.
Are there limits on
where I may place garage sale sign?
Yes. You are allowed no more than five (5) signs
advertising the sale or giving directions to its location. These
signs shall not exceed six (6) square feet in sign surface area per sign
face. All such signs shall be erected on private property with the
consent of the property owner.
No signs shall be placed on public property including utility poles,
City parks, or islands/medians. All signs shall be removed within
twenty-four (24) hours after the last permitted date for the garage
sale. If an applicant fails to remove the signs, there will be a ticket
issued. (5-408)
Is there a penalty for violating these regulations?
Yes. Failure to comply with the garage sale and/or constitutes
a violation and a ticket can be issued.
