UBAS Street Surface Project (UPDATED 4/17/2020)

0320001.02 UBAS MAP Street Project April 2020

UPDATE 4/17/2020:  The contractor will start the macrotexturing process on Monday, April 20th for the streets on the map in Roeland Park. This is the milling process that takes place prior to the asphalt being put down. There may be minor delays during this process, however it will move swiftly. Trash service will not be interrupted. Door hangers are being distributed today to the affected residents that will have UBAS placed on their street with information about this work. Please move all cars off the street into driveways so the contractor can complete their work. Thank you!

Roeland Park has contracted with McAnany Construction to provide the cities 2020 surface treatments for the streets listed on the attached map and plan to start this work in the next few weeks. UBAS (Ultra-Thin Bonded Asphalt Surface) is a process where the street surface is slightly milled, called macro texturing, and a paving machine places an asphalt emulsion and asphalt material on the street surface simultaneously which creates a new street surface. The material is then rolled with a compaction roller to ensure the new material adheres to the street. This process is not anticipated to create extended delays to residents during this work, but minor inconveniences could be expected. The contractor will attach door hangers with information about the process at least 48 hours prior to work being done. Cars that are parked on the street will need to be moved into driveways and we ask that irrigation systems be turned off on the day of the scheduled work. Trash services will continue as scheduled on your regular pickup day. Please stay tuned for more updates in the coming days.
